E2E (Entry to Employment)

E2E-Logo

Entry to Employment (E2E) is an entry to a level 1 work-based programme for young people aged 16 to 18 not yet ready or able to enter an Apprenticeship, sustained employment or further vocational learning opportunities.

E2E comprises individualised programmes of learning within an overarching framework. There is an entitlement curriculum based on three strands: basic and key skills; personal and social skills; and vocational learning. The mix of these three strands depends on the needs, interests and aspirations of the learners. Equally important within the learning programme is the initial assessment of the learner and the aftercare provided to ensure progression is successful.

E2E is not qualification-driven. Learning outcomes and achievements are recorded in the E2E Passport which is owned by the young person, with particular attention paid to the distance travelled by the individual.

E2E is also an important pre-Apprenticeship route, as part of the Apprenticeships family, for those young people who want to enter an Apprenticeship.

Since the programme was introduced, more than 100 000 young people have benefited from E2E. The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) guarantees all young people for whom E2E is appropriate a place on the programme. This is in addition to their commitment that every 16 to 18-year-old can have a place in post-16 education and training.
