Childcare

Are you aged 16 to 19?

Students aged 16-19 with childcare needs should apply to the Government Care to Learn scheme.  For more information, please visit and apply at  www.gov.uk/care-to-learn.

Are you 20 years old or over?

Learners whose household income is below £25000 per year can apply to the College’s Discretionary Learner Support Fund for childcare costs for registered childminders, nurseries and after-school clubs. These must be Ofsted-registered and we will request proof of this upon accessing support.

General information regarding childcare

  • Please note that the College does not have its own childcare provision and we are not able to recommend childcare providers.  However, Hartlepool First Contact and Support Hub can provide accurate, up-to-date information to parents and carers regarding childcare and children’s services in Hartlepool. They can be contacted on 01429 284284.

  • We are only able to support a maximum of two children per learner in nursery provision (different figures apply for breakfast clubs and after-school care).

  • All 3 and 4-year-olds in England are entitled to 15 hours of free early education each week for 38 weeks of the year. Some 2-year-olds will also be eligible.  Students will be expected to use this entitlement before applying for College Support Funds. For further information please contact Hartlepool First Contact and Support Hub on 01429 284284.
