Leicester College Students visit Hartlepool College

If you are a student at Hartlepool College of Further Education, you can see the sea just by looking out of the window.  Leicester College, by contrast, is landlocked, so that’s certainly not the case for those students, who Hartlepool Hairdressing students visited in December.  The Hartlepool visit was arranged to find out more about what it is like to live and study in a multi-cultural society.  Leicester has a multi-ethnic population of 30% of its total, whereas Hartlepool’s is nearer 3%. We discovered that the places are so different, the Leicester students decided to visit Hartlepool themselves to find out more about the town’s growing importance as a tourist destination.

Celebration of Achievement Awards 2009

Students gathered at Hartlepool College of Further Education for a glittering ceremony to mark their outstanding achievements over the academic year.

After a busy year at Hartlepool College, which saw bosses get the green light for a multi-million pound new build, the Stockton Street-based campus hosted the Celebration of Achievement 2009 ceremony. Mail editor Joy Yates handed out the trophies, with travel writer and broadcaster Alan Wright comparing the event. In total, 30 awards were handed out to students who had excelled in their individual awards.

Divisional Awards 2009

Each year in the Autumn, the College holds its annual Celebration of Achievement, at which the successes of our students are marked by the presentation of the Student of the Year awards. Before that event, each of the College's seven academic divisions holds its own ceremony to mark and celebrate the achievements of their own learners. This year, for the first time, the College is holding these divisional awards in the same week, to turn the whole week into a celebration of our students' success. 'Splash' Freshers Fair 2009

College is one of the most exciting times in any young person’s life. To make this step easier, Hartlepool College of Further Education have lent a hand to students as they start their journey to adult life. This is achieved by an annual SPLASH event. SPLASH stands for Safety, Personal Effectiveness, Lifestyle, Activities, Sport and Health.  The College put together a convention of organisations which offer help, advice, information or discounts to students to ensure students got the best possible start to their college life.
