Clerk to the Board of Governors
Introduction by Alan Theakston
Alan Theakston is Clerk to the Governing Body and is responsible for ensuring that its business is conducted efficiently and that it operates within its powers and follows agreed and proper procedures.
As clerk Alan attends all meetings of the board and its committees and ensures that, amongst other things:-
- The business is conducted in accordance with the high standards expected of those in public office
- Meetings are properly prepared for, conducted and recorded and that governors receive appropriate and timely advice
- Governing body members are appointed and replaced in accordance with the instrument and articles of government
In the spirit of openness and accountability most of the documents for which the Clerk is responsible e.g minutes of meetings, instrument and articles, code of conduct, standing orders etc are available on the Governors website but can also be obtained from the Clerk on request on 01429 283810 or by e-mailing atheakston@hartlepoolfe.ac.uk. Alan will also be pleased to supply any other information relating to the governance of the board of Hartlepool College.
