Specsaver Challenge for Hospice
Rebecca Bates is pictured handing over a cheque to Janice Forbes from Hartlepool Hospice on behalf of the students from Hartlepool College of Further Education’s Level 3 Child Care and Education programme. The first and second year groups accepted the Specsaver Hospice challenge in which they received £50 from the Hospice to set up fundraising activities with the agreement that they would raise £350 within three months.
The students suggested, organised and implemented several activities including raffles, Christmas bag packing and helping Santa to send out letters to children around the Hartlepool area. Their energy and enthusiasm surpassed all expectations and they raised over £1086 for the charity.
Janice said “The students have been a joy to work with and I’m very pleased with how hard they have worked to raise the money.” Fiona McCabe and Kelly Ptohopoulos, course tutors of the groups also acknowledged the students’ hard work and positive attitudes adding that “They were all amazing and we are so very proud of each of them.”
