College hair show lifts off
On Monday 28th January the Aerospace Engineering hangar at Hartlepool College of Further Education saw a change from the usual array of workwear and bump caps, as three models used the facility as a backdrop for a competition photo shoot.
On Sunday 17th February Level 2 and 3 Hairdressing students are competing in the National Hairdressers' Federation (NHF) Red Rose Championships in Preston. One of the categories is to submit a photograph of a look on a model for the front cover of a fashion magazine. Level 3 students and models Danielle Leighton, Abbey Smith and Kay Whitelock were made-over by Level 3 Hairdressing students Annette Wilkinson, Kirsty Rumble, Emma Storey and Level 3 BTEC Make-up for Performers students Melissa Pasa and Allison Raw. Together they designed three stunning on-trend looks. The models were then whisked away to Aerospace where College photographer Gary Kester took a portfolio of shots in and around the aircraft, Rolls-Royce engine and helicopter.
The Preston competition will consist of a variety of styling, from off-the-wall blow drying to cover girl and bridal styles. The students will be entered for a total of 26 competitions throughout the day and will be accompanied by the make-up students who will again compliment the hairstyles with their expertise. The hair and beauty lecturers and the whole of the staff would like to wish them the best of luck for all events.
