Spreading the Good News
As Easter approaches, the college is delighted to host a visit from the Gideon Bible Society. This is the third successive year that the ‘Gideons’ have distributed a free copy of the New Testament to students and staff.
The Gideon Bible Society was formed in America over 100 years ago by travelling businessmen who wanted to spread the Christian Gospel. As most people may know, they have a mission place a copy of the Bible in as many places around the world as they can. Most travellers can find a copy in their hotel room. Robert Brookes of the Gideon Bible Society said’ It is always a pleasure to come to a College like Hartlepool where the young people are courteous and interested in what we do.’ Jackie Donley, the co-ordinator for equality and diversity said’ This visit is organised through the college Faith Group to promote faith tolerance and champion citizenship.’ The Gideon volunteers make a marvellous role model for young people and will always be welcome here.’ Trudie Swales Group, a member of the Faith Group picked up a copy of the New Testament to pass on as an Easter gift. What better way to spread the message of Easter.
