HCFE Girls 5 a side Tournament
Hartlepool FE entered the inaugural Stockton Riverside Girls 5 a side tournament on Wednesday 31st March and was magnificent in staying unbeaten throughout and winning the whole tournament.
Hartlepool were placed in a group of 4 and won all the group games only conceding 3 goals in the whole group games, winning 5 games and drawing once. All teams played each other twice with the winning team in the group advancing to the final.
Hartlepool won the final 2 v 1 against City of Sunderland College. The 7 girls which participated for the college was:
Jess Coates (GK), Stacie Kelly, Christina Corner, Lauren Johnson, Chelsea Graham, Jaz Bradley and Katherine Robson
This was an excellent performance by all the girls with special praise to Goalkeeper Jess Coates who with very little to do at times kept great concentration throughout to make a wonderful save in the final. Christina Corner was superb in defence and Lauren Johnson was the driving force from midfield. Player of the tournament was also won by a Hartlepool player as Chelsea Graham who scored 13 goals throughout the tournament including 2 in the final was immense from start to finish.
