If you are 16-18 and have money on your mind to support your learning at Hartlepool College, check out just some of the benefits and FREE stuff on offer.

Free* Travel for all Students who live outside of Hartlepool. Free* for Hartlepool students who live over 2.5 miles from College and have a household income of less than £25,000 per year (including tax credits).

*We will pay your travel costs based on the cheapest means of public transport.  Depending on which travel company you use we will either issue you a termly bus pass or we will pay money into your bank to allow you to buy a weekly pass. Discount bus passes are available for all other students – contact Student Services for more details.

If your household income is less than £25,000 per year (including tax credits) you can apply for free meals at College. This will give you £3.00 a day credit which you can use in any of the College refreshment areas (Food Court, Skills Café and Coffee Rapport). They are open all day and offer a wide variety of hot and cold food options. Remember to ask about the ‘Meal Deals’ too.

Students aged 16 to 19 can apply for Care to Learn for help with childcare costs while they study. Further information can be found atwww.gov.uk/care-to-learn

If your household income is less than £25,000 per year (including tax credits) and you need to buy essential equipment to complete the course, we can buy this for you.

Bursary +
You could be entitled to Bursary Plus which is worth £1200 per year if you are:

• in care of the Local Authority or classed as a care leaver, or
• in receipt of income support in your own right, or
• in receipt of ESA and either DLA or PIP.

If approved, weekly payments are made into your bank account and we will also help you with meals and other associated course costs.

How to Apply

Please note that funding support is for further education courses and paid apprentices are not eligible.
