The automotive qualification is intended to enable access to the automotive industry. It provides accessibility for individuals with lower academic qualifications but have an interest in seeking employment within the industry in the future, or perhaps wish to develop basic vehicle maintenance skills and knowledge.
Flexible entry requirements although a GCSE grade in Maths and English would be an advantage. Suitable for those learners with no qualifications but an interest and passion for cars.
The Programme requires the completion of a number of units including:
Introduction to Workshop Tools and Equipment
Principles of Engine Components and Operation
Routine Vehicle Maintenance Processes and Procedures amongst other units.
You will complete relevant functional skill units and GCSEs if applicable.
To complete the qualification you will be required to complete practical vehicle assessments which will also involve the completion of task sheets and observations by an assessor. Theoretical assessments will involve the completion of work books and related task sheets.
When you have successfully completed your programme of study you have achieved a qualification which will provide a suitable knowledge base to enable you to progress to a level 1 programme. It is also important to note that you will have achieved an important first step towards the undertaking of an apprenticeship qualification or progressing to our higher level 2 or 3 in the future.
To aid your development and industrial experiences we also aim to include trips out into industrial environments which have included Nissan and other local employers in previous years.
