Target audience 
  • 16-19 learners, completing a Programme of Study in a vocational area, who require a Level 2 science qualification to progress
  • 19+ part time learners who require a Level 2 science qualification to progress to Level 3 - for example, Access to HE (Science, Education)

No previous science qualifications are required

Teaching & Learning 

A range of teaching and learning strategies will be used within lessons, including:-

  • Lectures and presentations
  • Scientific experiments
  • Group work activities
  • Worksheets/exam question practice
  • Data analysis activities
  • Use of VLE for independent study
Assessment criteria 

Formative Assessment will include an initial assessment of knowledge at the beginning of the course and mock examinations throughout.

Summative Assessment will include an external written examination.

Progression 

Level 3 Access to HE (Science, Education) for 19+ learners

Application & Enrolment

You are able to apply online for all courses, however to complete your course enrolment fully, you will need to have an interview and then be accepted onto a course. The only courses available to enrol online are Full Cost courses, if you wish to enrol on any other course please call into Student Services or call 01429 295000.
