This qualification is for those wanting to enter the Plumbing industry. It gives you the opportunity to pick up some core skills and knowledge and gives you the opportunity to progress onto our Level 2 Plumbing qualifications. These qualifications are aimed at learners who want to learn the basic skills and knowledge of Plumbing Installation.
There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this qualification
The course consists of several different units which include:
- Installation
- Repair and maintenance of plumbing systems
- Above ground drainage
- Pipework (copper, plastic, low carbon steel)
- Plumbing science
Also the structure of the construction industry, environmental and sustainability measures, and site preparation in the construction industry.
You will undertake a programme of study including a mix of theory sessions in the classroom and practical sessions in the skills academy. You will learn the basic skills and knowledge used by plumbers alongside functional skills, employability skills, and the opportunity to participate in a wide range of enrichment activities.
You will be assessed on your practical skills and the knowledge you gain through practical tasks and unit tests.
Progression can be onto a Level 2 Plumbing qualification, either as an apprentice, L2 NVQ Diploma or full-time L2 Diploma in Plumbing Studies.
