A programme designed to give you the opportunity to progress to
Intermediate level courses. Students will gain skills, knowledge and
understanding of processes and techniques designed to increase your ICT and
creative skills. It is designed to offer potential students the opportunity to
study across both sectors and gain vocational experience in both as well as a
specialist qualification in the ICT/Creative sector.
It will also give
you the opportunity to develop a range of employability skills and techniques,
personal qualities and attitudes to help you prepare for employment or
progression to higher studies. This course is planned to progress students to
level 2 qualifications in either ICT or Art & Design. Level 1 Diploma
qualification is validated by Pearson Edexcel.
For learners who have recently been in education, the profile is likely to
include one of the following:
- Level 1/2 Award or certificate qualification in a related vocational area
- A standard of literacy and numeracy supported by a general education
equivalent to four GCSEs at grade E-F
- Other related qualifications
- Related work experience
do not have a GCSE grade 'C' or above in Maths and/or English, they will have to
undertake further study in these subjects as part of their programme of study in
addition to the main 'core' qualification.

- Spreadsheet Software
- Website Software
Plus others to be agreed.
Students will also learn to work as a team, manage time, take responsibility for their own work and become self-reliant. There is an expectation that students will work in their own time to complete the necessary reading, homework and assessment tasks.
Assessment during and at the end of each module is classroom/home based. All assessment is internally set and marked against One Award set criteria.
On completion of the course, students can progress to a further education course aimed at level 2 attainment.
The college will recruit learners to BTEC qualifications with integrity.
It is expected that students will make every effort to attend all sessions. Students must have a commitment to completing the course. Those students with work and/or family commitments should be aware of the duration of the course and the need to attend all classes.
The college will take appropriate steps to assess each applicant's potential and make a professional judgement about their ability to complete the programme of study successfully and achieve the qualification. This will include ensuring that applicants have appropriate information and advice about the qualification and that the qualification will meet their needs.
