This qualification is ideal for learners who are looking to gain an insight into the beauty sector allowing each learner to gain confidence and provide skills that will enable you to progress into further learning.
You must provide a satisfactory school reference and undertake a successful College interview and initial assessments to decide on the most appropriate programme.
Topics studied will include:
- Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector
- Presenting a Professional Image
- Creating a Retail Display
- Following Health and Safety
- Skin Care
- Hand Care
- Basic Make Up
You will practice these treatments at our modern commercial beauty salon. In addition students will undertake Personal, Social and Development units and will have their Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT assessed and developed.
Assessment is ongoing through practical observation with customers and online exams. There will be a portfolio of evidence to produce. There will also be an exam for functional skills.
On successful completion of this course, you can obtain employment, perhaps as an assistant, or progress to a Level 2 Diploma. Progression is not automatic and you will require good attendance and a suitable reference from your tutor.
All learners will be expected to comply with the industry code of practice for salon dress. Learners will require a kit to support their studies - grants are available for those who meet the criteria.
