Accounting Technicians are the skilled support staff working in accounting and finance. The role covers a wide range of occupations from Accounts Assistants to Financial Managers in the public sector, industry and commerce as well as accounting practices. The AAT Education and Training Scheme is designed for those who already work in an accounting or financial environment or would like to. Students can commence study at the Certificate level with no previous accounting experience.
Any of the following:
- AAT Level 1 Award in Accounting or equivalent
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or above) or equivalent
Students will complete five mandatory units:
- Processing Bookkeeping Transactions
- Control Accounts, Journals and the Banking System
- Work Effectively in Accounting and Finance
- Introduction to Costing
- Computerised Accounting
All units except 'Computerised Accounting' are assessed via online exams on Secure Assess. 'Computerised Accounts' is assessed via a computer-based project on Secure Assess.
On successful completion of AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting, students may wish to undertake the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting course.
Students will be required to purchase textbooks as advised by their tutors.
