For candidates who want to work as electricians in the building services engineering sector. This qualification does not make candidates fully qualified electricians

Entry requirements 

L1 Diploma in Electrical Installation
Maths, English and Science subjects GCSE A-C

Course content 

The qualification covers many areas within Electrotechnical technology,
units such as principles of electrical science, electrical installations
technology and health and safety within Building Services Engineering.
Candidates will be assessed by on-demand multiple choice tests (available
through the City & Guilds assessment platform e-volve) and practical
assignments. The course comprises 5 mandatory units:


  • Health and Safety
  • Electrical Installation Theory
  • Electrical Installation Methods
  • Procedures and Requirements
  • Electrical Installation Craft Skills
  • Electrical Science and Principles

Other information 

Students have the opportunity to participate in numerous enrichment activities such as overnight residentials and day visits and where possible gain site experience with local companies.

You are able to apply online for all courses, however to complete your course enrolment fully, you will need to have an interview and then be accepted onto a course. The only courses available to enrol online are Full Cost courses, if you wish to enrol on any other course please call into Student Services or call 01429 295000.
