Target audience 

Suitable for anyone wanting to work with children between the ages of 0-7
years. This qualifies to count in the level 2 ratio as a qualified Level 2
Practitioner in the roles of:-


  • Nursery Practitioner

  • Classroom assistant

  • Pre School Practitioner
Entry requirements 
  • A DBS check will be necessary
  • A placement in an early years setting for two days every week is essential

  • Roles and responsibilites of the Early Years Practitioner

  • Health and safety of babies and young children in the early years

  • Equality, diversity and inclusive practice in Early
    Years Settings

  • Safeguarding, protection and welfare of babies and young children in Early
    Years Settings 

  • Understand how to support children's development

  • Support care routines for babies and young children

  • Support the planning and delivery of activities, purposeful play
    opportunities and educational programmes

  • Promote play in an Early Years Setting

  • Support the well-being of babies and young children for healthy
    lifestyles

  • Support babies and young children to be physically active

  • Support the needs of babies and young children with Special Educational
    Needs and Disability

  • Promote positive behaviour in Early Years Settings

  • Partnership working in the early years

  • Support the needs of the child in preparing for school

 


 


 

Teaching & Learning 


  • learners will attend College one evening a week for the underpinning
    knowledge of the programme

  • learners will also need a practical placement for 2 days every week and
    collate a portfolio of evidence
Assessment criteria 


  • Learners will complete written assessment tasks for each unit

  • Learners will be assessed in the work environment by an assessor

  • Learners must successfully achieve both the written tasks and their
    practical experience in order to successfully complete the
    programme
Progression 

Progression to Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner (Early Years Educator)

Other information 


  • All students will be required to complete a DBS check
  • There is an expectation that students will work in their own time to
    complete the necessary reading, homework and assessment work

Application & Enrolment

You are able to apply online for all courses, however to complete your course enrolment fully, you will need to have an interview and then be accepted onto a course. The only courses available to enrol online are Full Cost courses, if you wish to enrol on any other course please call into Student Services or call 01429 295000.

Full Cost course fees are inclusive of VAT.

Will I have to pay for fees?
