This qualification is aimed at learners who have progressed from a Level 1 Diploma in Plumbing Studies or a similar construction related qualification.
Entrants to this course will normally have undertaken the Level 1 Diploma in Plumbing.
The Level 2 Diploma develops learner's plumbing and heating skills at an intermediate level. The course covers a wide range of skills designed to make you 'industry ready'. You will develop a range of skills including installation, commissioning and maintenance.The course units you will study are:
- Cold water systems
- Domestic hot water systems
- Above ground drainage and discharge
- Central heating systems - pipework
- Electrical supply and earth continuity systems
- Environmental awareness
- Health, safety and welfare key principles and common processes
You will undertake a programme of study including a mix of theory sessions in the classroom and practical sessions in the skills academy, as well as GCSE/functional skills in Maths and English, employability skills and the opportunity to participate in a wide range of enrichment activities including work experience.
You will be assessed on your practical skills and the knowledge you gain through practical tasks and on-line end of unit tests.
You can progress on to a Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing & Heating or become an Apprentice to become a qualified plumber or heating engineer. If you wish to trade as a plumber you will need to obtain a work placement/job and complete the 6189 competence NVQ Diploma.
