Course content 

To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities, learners are required to successfully complete 6 mandatory units:

  • Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and and social care
  • Introduction to personalisation in social care
  • Principles of positive risk-taking for individuals with disabilities
  • Introductory awareness of Autistic Spectrum Conditions
  • Principles of supporting individuals with a learning disability to access health care
Teaching & Learning 

This is an online course completed via distance learning. The EQUAL system provides learners with a variety of teaching methods to support their learning. Video, audio and interactive tasks support the detailed reading and notes available to ensure learners have all they need to successfully complete this course

Progression 

Learners can access a variety of other distance learning qualifications in
similar disciplines.  Alternatively, the wide variety of full and part time
courses available at the college will accept this qualification as part of their
entry requirements.

Other information 

Please note failure to complete this qualification in a timely manner may
result in an administration charge being applied.

You are able to apply online for all courses, however to complete your course enrolment fully, you will need to have an interview and then be accepted onto a course.
