There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they've already achieved a Level 1 qualification. An interview will be required to ensure that this qualification is appropriate for the ability of the learner. The learner must be able to fulfil the requirements of the learning outcomes and comply with the relevant literacy, numeracy and health and safety aspects of this qualification.
This qualification is designed for learners interested in aviation operations. It provides learners with skills in health, safety, security and communications required to work within an aviation environment.
Qualification purpose: this qualification is designed for learners who wish to progress into job roles within airside ramp services, providing safe airside operations (airports), supporting aircraft operations or handling passengers. This qualification will:
- focus on the study of transportation, operations and maintenance
- offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge
- provide opportunites to acquire a number of practical and technical skills
Qualification objectives: the objectives of this qualification are to:
- provide learners with skills in health, safety, security and communications required to work within an aviation enviroment
- develop learners' skills in specific aviation functions
To achieve the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Aviation Operations on the Ground (Knowledge), learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes of the units as detailed in this qualifcation specification.
A portfolio of written and practical assessment will be required. Examples of written work include: learner report or product eg:

- posters
- diagrams
- leaflets or fact files
Examples of practical assessment may include:
- assessor observation
- workplace observation
- video diary
- photographic evidence
