This qualification is aimed at learners working at Level 2 who want to develop a range of skills relevant to employment and personal development which will help them to make informed career and progression choices. The programme provides an entry point for learners to gain a qualification to prepare for further academic progression and/or for employment.

The qualification offers the opportunity for a learner to undertake a broad range of subjects to enhance their awareness of employment, training and personal development. The programme will allow learners to develop their skills in areas of communication, self-confidence, self-awareness and include investigating employment and future career options. The areas of study provides challenges and opportunities for progression along the achievement continuum and achieving across a wider area of study as well as reinforcing previous learning.The qualification is designed to meet the needs of Foundation Learning and to begin to progress learners towards the pathway destinations and routes into chosen vocational areas.
The programme aims to prepare students for a future career in the Health, Social Care or Early Years sector with a view to enrolling on to a full Level 2 Health and Social Care or Early Years programme after completion. The programme of study aims to enable learners to successfully achieve a Maths and English qualification to enable their progression.
