Target audience 

This qualification is focused on developing the skills of qualified hairdressers to enter the men's hairdressing sector.

Entry requirements 

Prior attainment of a hairdressing qualification at Level 2 or 3.
Successful candidates will be accepted at interview.

Course content 

Four units will be covered in a practical salon environment at
Hartlepool College's Luminary Salon:



  • Client consultation for hair services - UV20386
  • Follow health and safety practice in the workplace - UV20483
  • Cut men's hair UV20504
  • Cut facial hair - UV20505
Assessment criteria 

Assessment is set, marked and internally verified by the centre to clearly demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes.

Assessment is sampled by VTCT external verifiers.

Progression 

Whilst this qualification's primary purpose is to prepare you for employment
as a unisex hairdresser, you may choose to develop your skill base further by
undertaking specialist qualifications at Level 3, including:



  • VTCT Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Barbering (QCF)
  • VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Barbering (QCF)
  • VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Barbering Studies (QCF)

You are able to apply online for all courses, however to complete your course enrolment fully, you will need to have an interview and then be accepted onto a course. The only courses available to enrol online are Full Cost courses, if you wish to enrol on any other course please call into Student Services or call 01429 295000.
