Target audience 

This course is for candidates who provide care to clients in a senior job role. It will be applicable to those offering advice and guidance to staff through a range of needs.

Entry requirements 

There are no formal entry requirements. Candidates must have the support of their employer, either paid or unpaid, to enable assessment to be undertaken in the workplace. Entry is by completion of application forms, initial assessments and interview.

Course content 

This course includes assessment of evidence and practice that will be sufficient to meet the assessment requirements for the units which the candidate is collecting evidence for. Essential knowledge and understanding will be assessed in relation to:

  • The content of information and advice - practices and procedures in the workplace
  • Introduction to the person-centred approach and ethical constraints in multi-task roles
  • Providing information to clients

    in the working environment
  • Unit HSC33 - Reflect on and develop your practice

    individuals

  • Unit HSC330 - Support individuals to access and use services and
    facilities
  • Unit HSC369 - Support individuals with specific communication needs
  • Unit HSC351 - Plan, agree and implement development activities to meet
    individual needs
  • Unit HSC375 - Administration of Medication
  • Unit HSC358 - Identify the individuals at risk of skin breakdown and
    undertake the appropriate risk assessment
  • Unit HSC360 - Move and Position Individuals
Assessment criteria 

Assessment can involve all or some of the following methods:

  • Observation of Practice
  • Professional Discussion
  • Personal Statements
  • Witness Testimonies
  • Evaluation of Work Products
  • Accreditation of Prior Learning or Experience
Progression 

Candidates can progress on to the NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care (depending on job role)

Application & Enrolment

You are able to apply online for all courses, however to complete your course enrolment fully, you will need to have an interview and then be accepted onto a course. The only courses available to enrol online are Full Cost courses, if you wish to enrol on any other course please call into Student Services or call 01429 295000.
