To enable candidates to gain the technical knowledge and practical skills to obtain the qualification recognised by the industry.
Technical certificate (basic plumbing studies), NVQ Level 2 and employment in the industry is essential.
You will cover the following subjects:
- Cold/hot water supply
- Unvented hot water supply*
- Central heating
- Gas supply (ACS, CCN1 & CEN1)*
- Water regulations*
- Key skills
* External exam for these modules
Students will be taught in both theory and practical sessions throughout the programme.
Assessment covers practical and theoretical areas including gas safety. A portfolio of evidence will be produced incorporating onsite assessments and site evidence.
On completion of NVQ Level 3 the successful student can progress to the National Certificate & Foundation Degree in Building in Building Services Engineering at technician level which is the route to management, design and HVAC, electrical and refrigeration.
There is an expectation that learners will have good time management skills and work in their own time to complete the necessary reading, research and assessment work to be successful on this qualification. Learners will have the opportunity to participate in educational and/or residential visits.
