Target audience 

This course is ideal for students who are genuinely interested in caring for others and would like to work in the health and social care sector.
This course is aimed at school leavers or students progressing from a suitable Level 1 programme and will give students the opportunity to prepare for employment in the health and social care sector or progress to a vocationally related Level 3 course.

Entry requirements 

Students must have a minimum: 2 GCSE's at grade C/4 or above including English or Maths and 3 GCSE's at grade D/3. Progressing students from an equivalent qualification are also suitable.

Course content 

Students will be studying a range of health and social care related topics such as introduction to a healthy lifestyle, introduction to working with service users and working within the health and social care sector. The units require applied learning that brings together knowledge and understanding with practical and technical skills. Students will develop essential transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, research and analysis which are valued in both further education and the workplace.
Work experience is an essential part of this course.

Assessment criteria 

Students have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and
understanding in a range of work-related contexts and assessments:


  • Work-related assignments such as essays, reports, case studies, research
    projects

All units have to be completed to gain the overall grade and
qualification


 

Progression 

The qualification provides the opportunity to progress directly into employment with a health and social care provider or to a vocationally related Level 3 course.

  • All students will be required to complete a DBS check
  • Students will be required to purchase a uniform

You are able to apply online for all courses, however to complete your course enrolment fully, you will need to have an interview and then be accepted onto a course. The only courses available to enrol online are Full Cost courses, if you wish to enrol on any other course please call into Student Services or call 01429 295000.
