This course is predominantly classroom-based and students will be exposed to a variety of teacher-centred and student-centred/teacher-facilitated activities. There is an expectation that, over time, students will become more independent in terms of sourcing their own learning materials.
Assessment is ongoing throughout the year. Students will complete a portfolio of work.
Most Access students progress to higher education or start a degree apprenticeship once they have successfully completed this diploma. The UCAS application is integrated in the course programme, and by the end of the course the vast majority of students will have been guaranteed a place at university.
Entry requirements for higher education programmes can differ between institutions and staff will discuss these requirements at interview, as some universities expect students to have a grade 4 or above in Maths/English/Science.
There is an expectation that students will work in their own time to complete the necessary research and assessment tasks. Please think carefully before undertaking a course of this nature as it is demanding and you will need to consider your work, family and other commitments before enrolling.
