Advanced Learner Loans

If you are starting a course this year it may be funded via an Advanced Learner Loan (ALL). These loans help you to pay the fees charged by colleges and training organisations. If you are aged 19 and over and are studying at Level 3 to 6, you may be eligible. It's easy to apply, your household income isn't taken into account and there is no credit check. With an ALL, you also won't have to pay anything back until your income is over £25,000 a year. If you are applying for an Access to Higher Education (HE) course, the ALL may be written off when you graduate*.

Do I Qualify?

You can quickly check if you are eligible for an ALL by answering a few simple questions.

These loans do not cover Degrees or other forms of HE. For information on funding for HE please visit

How Much Can I Get?

The amount you can get depends on your course, the fees charged and maximum amounts set by the government. The minimum loan amount for a course is £300. You can take out a loan for the full amount of your course fee or you can pay part of the fee yourself.
