The Skills for Health project has been specifically designed to help young people aged between 16 and 30, gain meaningful employment in the Health & Social Care sector - across many job roles.

Skills for Jobs - Railway

This railway engineering programme will give the candidates the following qualifications, certificates and Network Rail mandatory competencies:

•           City and guilds NVQ level 2 diploma in rail engineering track maintenance
•           City and guilds level 2 certificate in rail engineering underpinning knowledge (4 Units)

The theory elements of the programme will be delivered within the main college. Practical elements will be delivered at Stevenson Rail. Transport to the rail track will be provided by the college. On completion of the 6 week programme candidates will be given the opportunity to complete an additional 2-week Personal Track safety course.

Skills for Jobs - Civil / Manufacturing Engineering

Seymours Civil Engineering

This 6-week construction course offers you the opportunity to gain key industry qualifications to help you move into work within the construction sector.

Training includes:

A) Facilities entry course & Drugs and Alcohol testing
B) Gateway to Construction: NRSWA Streetworks (Operative or Supervisor level), Hot lay,  CSCS card, Emergency First Aid, Detection of Underground Services, Construction Safety Awareness
C) Build Training: Excavator 360 Mini Digger and Forward Tipping Dumper
D) Reinstatement Training: Ride-on Roller and Slinger/Signaller

Delivered at Seymours Skills Academy, an 11 acre construction training site and on campus here at Hartlepool College.

TMD Friction

This is an enjoyable four-day course covering what is like to work in the facilities/manufacturing industry, the type of work it entails, working as part of a team, health and safety, customer service, sustainability and environmental issues. On successful completion of the course, there is a guaranteed interview with GEM for job opportunities with brake manufacturer TMD.
