Construction students gain valuable health and safety knowledge

Yesterday our Construction and Built Environment cohort of students were given unique opportunities to take part in the first  White Van Roadshow delivered by Working Well Together North East comprising of regional Health and Safety companies, construction contractors, and health and safety consultants along with the HSE (add link), who were presenting and demonstrating throughout the morning. 

Presenters included; Nick Redpath (Northern Counties Safety Group), Tony Carroll (ESH Group) Debbie Flynn & Steph Shirlow (HSE) Leanne Scott and Erin Rochford (North Tyneside Council) Dan Athey (Seymour Civil Engineering) Ange Carney (Carney Consultancy) and John Neilson (CK21)

A brilliant range of activities included: spot the hazard in the construction workshop, accidents while working with power tools, consequences of not wearing PPE in the workplace, amongst other activities.

All students took home a bumper goody bag for taking part. The staff and students of our School of Construction and The Built environment appreciate and would like to thank the presenters and organisations for giving up their time and knowledge to give our students invaluable experience for their future careers in the construction industry.
