Leaving a lasting legacy

A dedicated community leader and proud Hartlepudlian is set to step down as Chair of the Board of Governors at Hartlepool College at the end of July. Stuart Irvine, 47, will hand over to his successor, Haani Hasnain, after an eight-year journey on the board, including four pivotal years as Chair. During his time in the role, the College has navigated global challenges, delivered major transformation and secured its strongest financial position in recent memory.

Aysha Ergul is a Safety, Health and Environment apprentice at Costain, completing her NVQ at Hartlepool College. Hartlepool College is proud to be playing an important part of plans that have been unveiled for a skills academy that will bring back into use the historic former Binns building in Hartlepool. A Memorandum of Understanding to develop a new Nuclear and Electrical Trades Academy was signed at a ceremony in Hartlepool Civic Centre, attended by Secretary of State for Education Bridget Phillipson MP.
