Target audience 

This qualification is aimed at learners who have progressed from a Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing Studies or a similar construction related qualification

Entry requirements 

Entrants to this course will normally have undertaken the Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing

Course content 

The Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma further develops learner's plumbing and heating skills at an advanced level. The course covers a wide range of skills designed to make you 'industry ready'. You will develop a range of skills including installation, commissioning and maintenance. The course units you will study are:

  • plumbing systems installation planning
  • complex cold water systems
  • domestic hot water systems
  • sanitation and drainage systems
  • central heating systems
  • domestic gas principles
  • career awareness in Building Services Engineering
  • health and safety in Building Services Engineering
Teaching & Learning 

You will undertake a programme of study including a mix of theory sessions in the classroom and practical sessions in the skills academy, as well as GCSE/functional skills in Maths and English, employability skills and the opportunity to participate in a wide range of enrichment activities including work experience

Assessment criteria 

You will be assessed on your practical skills and the knowledge you gain through practical tasks and on-line end of unit tests

Progression 

You can progress on to HNC Building Services or become an Apprentice to become a qualified plumber or heating engineer. If you wish to train as a plumber you will need to obtain a work placement/job and complete the 6189 NVQ Diploma

You are able to apply online for all courses, however to complete your course enrolment fully, you will need to have an interview and then be accepted onto a course.
