We are HCFE

Our Commitment

We practice the HARTS Behaviours. We commit to the Genuine Mutual Respect values. We call out behaviour that is #NeverOK when we see it. These three elements bind us together as an academic community.

We belong to an institution made up of exceptional students and staff. Our people and the relationships we build with each other are what make us an outstanding place to study and work. Every one of us has a responsibility to protect our community.

Genuine Mutual Respect

We commit to the five principles of Genuine Mutual Respect:

  • Everyone belongs here
  • Our college is safe and welcoming
  • We are trustworthy and honest
  • We speak up for what's right
  • We lift each other up

Sign our Genuine Mutual Respect Pledge here.

We highlight topics across the academic year under the RESPECT initiative to champion inclusivity and equality in our college. RESPECT forms a key part of students' taught tutorial programme, and we expect all students to adhere to our RESPECT values as part of the College's Code of Conduct during their study with us.

HARTS - Behaviours

HARTS summarises the key behaviours we expect students to uphold at all times while they are a part of Hartlepool College, and indeed as they go on to succeed in their future lives.

Hartlepool College students are:

  • Hard-working
  • Ambitious
  • Resilient
  • Thankful
  • Self-aware

It's Never OK

'It's Never OK' is our commitment to stand firmly against all forms of discrimination, harassment, and harmful behavior. Everyone has the right to live and study in a safe and supportive environment free from harm, prejudice, and discrimination.

Hartlepool College takes any instance of discrimination, bullying, or hate extremely seriously. Students violating this principle inside or outside the college risk disciplinary action.
