Target audience 

This programme is aimed at school leavers who want to take their first steps into the construction industry and those progressing from the Level 1 Plumbing programme

Entry requirements 

  • Completed Level 1 Diploma in Plumbing Studies (7202-01)
  • Mimimum Grade 4 English and Mathematics
Course content 

This qualification will help gain an understanding of the skills required within the plumbing sector.  It will cover compulsory aspects such as:  Hot Water, Cold Water, Sanitation, Central Heating Centres and providers work with local employers who will contribute to the knowledge and delivery of training.  Employers will provide demonstrations and talks on the industry and where possible work placements will also be provided by the employers.  This practically based training is ideal preparation for gaining employment in the plumbing industry or specialist further study.

  • Unit 211 Health and Safety and Industry Practices
  • Unit 212 Plumbing Processes
  • Unit 213 Electrical and Scientific Principles
  • Unit 214 Cold Water
  • Unit 215 Hot Water
  • Unit 216 Central Heating
  • Unit 217 Sanitation and Drainage
Teaching & Learning 

A variety of teaching strategies will be employed in delivering this qualification, this is dependant on the unit content. This may include lectures, seminars, workshops, group work, practical work and simulated work environment. Teaching and learning activities will take place in specialist facilities and classrooms. This will be delivered between Monday to Friday on a full time bases.

Assessment criteria 

There are two parts to the Assessment of this programme:

  • Examination - this will cover the whole content of the programme
  • Synoptic assignment - this practical assignment will be carried out in centre.  The assignment requires candidates to identify and use effectively, in an integrated way, an appropriate selection of skills, techniques, concepts, theories and knowledge from across the whole content area
  • The assessments will be graded Fail/Pass/Merit/Distinction
Progression 

Upon successful completion of this programme of study learners will hold qualifications that allows them to progress onto:

  • Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Plumbing
  • T Levels - Building Services Engineering for Construction

or with employment progress on to the following apprenticeships:

  • Level 3 Plumbing and Domestic Heating
  • Level 3 Building Services Engineering Craftsperson's (Heating and Ventilation)
Other information 

Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided for learners to use in the Workshops

You are able to apply online for all courses, however to complete your course enrolment fully, you will need to have an interview and then be accepted onto a course.
