Adults (aged 19+) wishing to pursue a career in the health and fitness/sport sector as a Sports Massage Therapist
- Learners should be aged 19+ to be eligible for Advanced Learner Loan funding
- There is an element of communication involved (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 3
- Performing sports massage is a physical activity and learners will need to be fit enough to carry this out
Learners must complete the five mandatory units (37 credits)
- Anatomy and Physiology for Sports Massage Therapy
- Principles of Health and Fitness
- Understand the Principles of Soft Tissue Dysfunction
- Professional Practice in Sports Massage
- Sports Massage Treatments
A combination of practical activities (including providing massage treatments), seminars and theory sessions
Learners will complete a portfolio of evidence including:
- Q&A on each of the units
- 3 Practical assessments
- Client case study
Learners who complete this qualification could progress to the following:
- Active IQ Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy
- Routes into fitness instructing
- Physiotherapy
