Health and Wellbeing on Campus

Find out how we can support you to look after your health and wellbeing at college

Whether you're revising for exams, completing your coursework, or just trying to feel your best, there are lots of ways we can support you to eat well, stay active, and reduce stress.

According to the National Institute of Health and Care Research, there are positive correlations between good diet and physical activity and high academic achievement. Students with healthier lifestyles are not only more likely to be high achievers, but they also record the highest levels of satisfaction with their mental and physical health. 

There are several cafes and restaurants at Hartlepool College with a diverse range of options:

Offers salads, sandwiches, coffee, snacks, and more. Located in the Atrium as you enter the college.

The Food Court
Offers a range of hot and cold food and drink. Located at the back of the Atrium.

The Flagship Restaurant
Staffed by our outstanding Hospitality students and apprentices, the Flagship offers a delicious seasonal menu, open to students and the public alike. Learn more about the Flagship here. 

You can also access our Luminary Fitness Suite to stay active on campus, which contains a range of modern gym equipment. The Fitness Suite is located on the second floor of the main College building. We also run various activities throughout the year, which will be communicated to your student email address.

Sickness absence

If you are absent from college due to sickness, please let your tutor know in the first instance. You can self-certify for a maximum of ten days in any one academic year, with a maximum of seven days for any one period of illness. For more information about sickness absences, please contact Student Support.

If you are finding things difficult, it is important to know that you do not have to struggle alone. We can help you find support - contact our Student Support team to talk about the range of options available.
