Hitachi Rail Aluminium Welding Trainee Programme

We're offering an exciting opportunity to join our six-month aluminium welding training programme, designed to equip you with the essential skills needed for a successful career in the rail industry. Upon successful completion of your training, you'll transition into six months of paid work at Hitachi Rail, with tangible employment opportunities available thereafter.

This programme, funded by the North East Combined Authority and delivered in partnership with Hartlepool College of Further Education, is your pathway to becoming part of the next generation of skilled welders in one of the UK's leading rail manufacturing companies.

Who we're looking for:

We're seeking enthusiastic, professional individuals who are passionate about pursuing a career in skilled welding. You don't need previous welding experience – just dedication, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to excellence.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You must be 19 years old on or before 31st August 2025
  • You must have a North East Combined Authority postcode

Successful applicants will be invited to an assessment day consisting of practical and theory tests to evaluate your potential and aptitude for the role.
