It's Random Acts of Kindness Week from February 14 to February 20. It’s a celebration of all the ways we can become a positive influence in each other’s lives. Even one small act of kindness can mean a great deal to somebody. The world can be selfish and cruel sometimes and not everyone receives the same kind of support they need.

In such a world, it is important for us to constantly be reminded to be kind to one another and to give others hope whenever we can. A small and random gesture of kindness can go a long way.

So, last week as part of our #SkillShowcase week, our brilliant Level 2 & 3 Art & Design Students, participated in a competition to design a poster to raise awareness for Random Acts of Kindness Week, culminating in being judged by Rachael Garlick (Youth Participation Worker - Hartlepool Borough Council) who said: "it was a privilege to be asked to come along to judge this competition and was a difficult decision given the standard of the work but I'm sure the winning entries will encourage people to reflect and put into action the important message of Random acts of kindness day, they were all outstanding entrants, with some amazingly creative ideas."

Congratulations to the overall winner; Malachi Goodwin (L2 Diploma in Art and Design Student), with a great and simple design and easy-to-read information (see image). Richie Peacock (Art  & Design Lecturer said: "Malachi produced an excellent piece of work, this was the product of continued hard work and paying attention to detail to the brief that was given. Well deserved."  further congratulations to the runner-up who was Skye Salmons, with a brilliant illustrative poster using cats as a theme in her design.
