More than 200 guests joined us to celebrate students’ achievements at an annual graduation ceremony with our Higher Education partner Teesside University The prestigious event has become an integral part of the College calendar and provides the perfect setting to recognise the work of students.
Once again it was an outstanding day to honour achievements in areas such as manufacturing, mechanical engineering, electrical & electronic engineering, teaching, travel & tourism, building studies and many more.
Our Principal, Darren Hankey, said: “Each year we look forward to holding this landmark graduation event and it has become such a key part of the College’s diary. It was fantastic to see so many students graduate, with everyone’s circumstances different. Most graduated after studying on a part-time basis, juggling studies with work and other commitments. Regardless of any individual’s situation, it was superb to see so many graduates celebrate at the College with family, friends and staff. We wish everyone well in their future careers.”
One of the College’s amazing graduates to receive his cap and gown was Jonathan Breward. After five years of studies, he graduated with a foundation degree in culinary arts and management.
Jonathan said: “It was such a special day, lots of celebrations and memories to treasure forever. I would just like to say a special thank you to lecturer Kevin Dove, who has supported me and been a great lecturer over my time studying, and all the other staff who have helped me through this foundation degree and the support has been amazing. Thank you, everyone.”
Assistant Principal Shaun Hope hosted the event along with Mr Hankey. Mr Hope said: “At Hartlepool College, we are proud to see higher education continue to blossom and grow across the town and surrounding area. We are also all incredibly proud to play such an important role in helping people like Jonathan achieve degrees here in our town. Hartlepool College provides a wide range of courses across a long list of industries and we do everything we can to ensure people develop and progress as people in their chosen career paths, new or existing. We would just like to wish all of our graduated students future successes and it would be fantastic to see them return for further studies in the future.”
