Industrial & Marine Hydraulics (IMH) recently hired a Maintenance Engineering apprentice through the College and is now working with our School of Engineering to offer a fantastic opportunity to a full-time learner, to also progress onto an apprenticeship.
Chris Mosley, Manufacturing Manager and Ian Bannister, Engineering Manager at IMH spent time with the second-year full-time groups, last week, to deliver a presentation about the company and the opportunities they have to train apprentices, to be a key part of their business.
As a former alumnus of the College, Ian said, “We are pleased to be working in partnership with Hartlepool College of FE. It has first-class facilities and has worked hard to meet our business needs. It’s also great to see some of my former lecturers from 20 years ago and to be able to work with them and the wider team provide we look forward to giving more young engineering students the opportunity to forge a career in the sector.”
Michael Casey, Head of Operations here at the College added, “We welcome the partnership with IMH and are delighted to work with another organisation that not only values apprenticeships but includes them in future plans. It’s always advantageous when employers come in to speak with students as it generates more buy-in. It’s also great to see Ian involved with the College again, he was a student of mine 20 years ago and has not lost any of his enthusiasm for engineering and training. We look forward to working together to develop the careers of more engineers in the coming years.”
