Nikita Cooks Up Competition Success

Nikita Wren

Hartlepool College of Further Education commis chef apprentice, Nikita Wren, recently scooped a bronze medal in a prestigious competition in London.

Nikita, a former student a Dene Community School in Peterlee, competed in the world-renowned Hotel, Restaurant and Catering’s International Salon Culinaire competition held at the Excel Centre in London. She competed against others from across the country and did amazingly well to achieve a bronze medal.

Nick Lewis, catering lecturer at the College said, “Nikita’s work was of a very high standard and she did well in a very strong field.  She is employed at the Chilli Cake Kitchen and Bar in Hartlepool and I’m sure the staff there, as with the staff at the College, are delighted with her achievement.”

Shaun Hope, Assistant Principal at the College commented, “Nikita’s hard work and positive attitude has paid dividends.  We enter lots of our students into regional and national competitions in order to provide stretch and challenge.  We also finds that this gives our students the edge when it comes to progressing into the world of work or higher education.  It’s hard work for our students, but the rewards for are potentially huge.”
