Target audience 

This qualification is targeted at candidates that wish to become fully qualified first aiders. The objective of this qualification is to support those individuals needing to become a first-aider in the workplace.

Entry requirements 

Self-certified as fit to perform physical requirements

Course content 

  • The roles and responsibilities of a first aider
  • Use of a First Aid kit
  • Minimise infection
  • Assessing an emergency situation safely and priority of treatment
  • Conduct a Primary survey
  • Unconscious Casualty
  • Place casualty in Safe Airway Position
  • CPR and AED
  • administering first aid to choking casualty
  • dealing with shock, burns, scalds, bleeds and minor injuries
  • Limb injuries
  • Sprain and strain
  • Head injury
  • Spinal injury
  • Eye injuries
  • Embedded objects
  • Electrical and chemical burn
  • Poisoning
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Recognise and manage, Life threatening conditions/major illness
Teaching & Learning 

Taught by qualified First-Aiders with real life experience in performing First Aid

Assessment criteria 

Each candidate will be assessed with a practical assessment on each topic

Progression 

3 year refresher to maintain the qualification

Other information 

We also offer a 2 day First Aid at Work requalification targeted at candidates that wish to remain fully qualified first aiders in the workplace

Application & Enrolment

You are able to apply online for all courses, however to complete your course enrolment fully, you will need to have an interview and then be accepted onto a course. The only courses available to enrol online are Full Cost courses, if you wish to enrol on any other course please call into Student Services or call 01429 295000.

Full Cost course fees are inclusive of VAT.
