This course is aimed at school leavers with an ambition to enter a career within the Hospitality and Catering Sector.

Course content 

This qualification will suit you if you are interested in working in hospitality and catering settings. You will build the skills and knowledge you will need to deliver a great dining experience. You'll learn essential skills in areas including food service, food safety, handling payments, bookings, serving hot and cold beverages, bar service and menu design.
You will also undertake learning with the roles and responsibilities of food preparation, cooking and serving as a part of your learning to provide relevant career progression opportunities.

Teaching & Learning 

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and abilities in the state-of-the-art Flagship Restaurant. You will also work directly with employers and participate in regional and national competitions.

Assessment criteria 

Graded assessment of each unit - to demonstrate knowledge and competence with all subject specific content.

Progression 

Students can progress to apprenticeships at L2 within the Hospitality and catering sector.
Students can also progress onto a full-time college programme to L2 Diploma in Culinary Skills. Students would still undertake learning within the Hospitality service sector as part of this culinary programme.
Progression is not automatic, and you will require good attendance and a suitable reference from your tutor that demonstrates that you have met the HARTS ethos of the college.

Other information 

Learners will work towards developing and gaining a Maths and English Qualification. All learners are expected to comply with Codes of Practice for Health and Safety and Dress codes.
Uniform is compulsory. Bursary students can apply for support with purchasing this (Please speak to student services)

Application & Enrolment

You are able to apply online for all courses, however to complete your course enrolment fully, you will need to have an interview and then be accepted onto a course. The only courses available to enrol online are Full Cost courses, if you wish to enrol on any other course please call into Student Services or call 01429 295000.

Full Cost course fees are inclusive of VAT.
