Throughout National Apprenticeship Week at Hartlepool College, staff and students created a skills showcase covering many of the college's curriculum areas with the aim of setting high expectations and showcasing the amazing talent with a series of internal competitions.
The showcase and competitions across the college took place in areas of Art and Design, Travel and Tourism, Catering, Brickwork, Carpentry, Plumbing, Early Years, Health, Social Care, Hairdressing, Beauty, Construction Technical, Fabrication and Welding, Electrical, SEND, Alternative Education, Public Services, Football Academy, Entry Training and Personal Development, Inclusive Learning and Sport.
The week-long showcase had great engagement with local employers, with representatives coming in from the NHS, Hartlepool Plumbing Supplies, Persimmon Homes, Port Homes, Sheraton Construction, Howell Cummings, Mains Electrical Distributors, High Rise Brickwork, Geoffrey Robinsons and managers from Little Treasures, Kiddikins and Little Rays of Sunshine Day Care who all came in to judge competitions.
John Cartwright, Head of Construction & the Built Environment and lead for Skills across the College said “The support throughout the event was phenomenal and we are extremely grateful to employers that sponsored and judged the competitions. The work students produced was exceptional and commended highly by both staff and judges.”
Hartlepool College is currently in partnership with other local colleges as part of the regional World Skills group aiming to improve skills through competitions and put the College firmly on the map by showcasing our amazing learners.
