Hartlepool College is proud to announce a new partnership with Cleveland Police, with the College serving as the venue for ongoing professional development training for frontline police officers.
The partnership launches on 17 March 2026 and will see approximately 40 officers take part in weekly training sessions at the College's facilities. The collaboration brings together two key public sector organisations with a shared commitment to investing in people, skills and long-term capability.
The training will make use of the College's professional learning environment to ensure sessions are practical, accessible and relevant to the demands of frontline policing. By delivering training locally, Cleveland Police can maximise officer availability and reduce the time officers are away from their duties.
Nick See, Chief Inspector - Hartlepool Response at Cleveland Police, said: "This joint working arrangement provides a valuable opportunity to deliver high-quality, face-to-face training in a modern learning environment that supports effective adult education. By working collaboratively with the College, we can ensure our officers' knowledge, skills, and operational expertise are kept up to date, relevant, and aligned with current demands on frontline policing.
"The partnership reflects a shared commitment to learning, development, and continuous improvement, benefiting both organisations and the wider Hartlepool community. Delivering training locally helps maximise officer availability, reduces abstraction time, and ensures learning remains accessible and practical for our frontline staff. We welcome the opportunity to strengthen links with Hartlepool College and are enthusiastic about developing this relationship further as part of our wider approach to partnership working."
Gary Riches, Vice Principal of External Relations at Hartlepool College, added: "We are absolutely delighted to be partnering with Cleveland Police to support the professional development of their officers. Our facilities and expertise are here to serve not just our students, but the wider public sector, and there's no better example of that than helping to ensure the officers who protect our communities are equipped with the very best training. We look forward to welcoming Cleveland Police to the College and to building a long and productive relationship."
The partnership is the latest example of the College's commitment to working collaboratively with employers and public sector organisations across the Tees Valley region to support workforce development and community investment.
