This week close to 1000 apprentices, here at Hartlepool College attended sessions aimed to reinforce the College’s approach to safeguarding and Prevent.  The sessions were delivered by the Prevent lead Ronnie Bage and the College’s lead for apprenticeships - Head of Operations, Michael Casey.

Michael Casey commented, “safeguarding and Prevent are important concepts and the College’s approach is shared with all apprentices as they start their respective apprenticeship standard.  We know that many apprentices spend the majority of their time in the workplace, so this recent round of talks was initiated to ensure our key messages are in the forefront of the apprentices’ minds.”

The talks focused on the College’s general approach to safeguarding and Prevent along with some key definitions and tell-tale signs.  The College’s safeguarding team and their contents were also reinforced.  All apprentices will receive a safeguarding & Prevent handbook.

The College’s Prevent lead, Ronnie Bage said, “we’ve held national events for employers with regards to safeguarding and Prevent and this underlines our approach, these events progressed to delivering sessions onsite to our employer partners.  We will never rest on our laurels when it comes to keeping all of our learners safe.”
