Hartlepool College of Further Education is proud to announce it has been awarded the prestigious Welding Institute Teesside Branch Provider of the Year. This significant accolade recognises the College's unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional welder training, assessments and qualifications, making a positive impact on learners, employers and the wider welding industry.

The award celebrates training providers that demonstrate the highest quality in their provision, a standard Hartlepool College is consistently proud to uphold. With a dedicated team and state-of-the-art facilities, the College is leading the way in addressing critical skills gaps in the fabrication and welding sector, locally, regionally and nationally.

Helen Gott, Head of Fabrication and Welding, Process and Transport at Hartlepool College, said: "We have ten highly experienced and qualified colleagues in the fabrication and welding curriculum team, dedicated to passing on their knowledge and skills to train the next generation of welders, metal fabricators, NDT technicians and pipefitters. Our curriculum is informed and endorsed by employers and stakeholders, ensuring we meet real industry needs.”

The College’s commitment is further evidenced by a substantial £3.2m investment into its Fabrication and Welding Centre of Excellence.

This investment, coupled with its status as an Approved Welder Training Organisation for MMA, TIG, MAG, and FCAW processes across carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium, highlights the breadth and quality of their offering.

Helen added: “We actively respond to the skills needs of industry and employers, offering welder training and qualifications from Level 1 to Level 4, alongside bespoke training for businesses. We also actively promote these skills on social media to raise awareness of the opportunities in this vital sector and support employers in meeting their skills needs."
